Have a rash of non-paying buyers? Finding that Paypal isn't working for your buyers? Have the no money for your items and stuck waiting blues?
Yeah, it's an Etsy bug with their connection to Paypal that appears to have been occurring for more than a week.
The way around it so far is to send the buyers invoices through Paypal (it's not a Paypal issue evidently), but be sure to explain the issue because they may think they already paid due to the lack of an error message appearing.
Admin know it's going on, but they haven't done anything about it or said anything other than to ask for more specifics. Because, as we all know, it doesn't matter how many individual and specific stories are given in a thread, admin wants to make their own damn thread! And then ignore you.

Etsy/Paypal Bug

thank you for bringing this up. i dont dare go to the forums with this, but my 3 lone sales this week have all had payment issues. i havent had 3 payment issues in 4 years until now
The issue is how reluctant Etsy is to (1) read and investigate daily Bug Reports and (2) BELIEVE what sellers post as Bug problems.
But that works both ways, Etsy. The more you treat sellers like pain in the neck, the more you whittle away what little trust many sellers have these days towards Etsy.
ONE NON-PAYING BUYER failed transaction is one mistake that should never repeat (caused by whatever glitch) for any seller on the site.
How many buyers are actually abandoning their purchases because they can't complete them?
there was a few posts about buyers who were making purchases from more than one shop. When they payed, only 1 seller was receiving both payments, there own, and the other seller's. This is a huge problem. Admin chimed in saying they were unable to duplicate the issue. There were several instances of this happening. What a pain in the ass!
here is the thread:

Well I've never been more happy that nothing has been selling in my shop! lol. What a PITA!
This issue actually started before the holiday rush and admin has been ignoring it for almost three months. Now on top of a crappy search engine that makes it next to impossible for buyers to find your items, their paypal link has a persistent and growing bug. Admin keeps telling sellers to send a separate PayPal invoice which means - more work for YOU & ME.
I expect that part of that 3.5% selling fee I pay to Etsy every time something in my shop sells should go to making the technology for checkout work. As far as I'm cocerned, if I have to write a separate invoice for a sale because of a bug in their system, Etsy is NOT doing their job. (Not that I'm at all surprised by this)
They continually refuse to address this issue and we all lose time and money with every glitched up transaction. I think we should be asking for some partial fee refunds and looking for different venues.
I have some beautiful tings to list today but you know what? I won't be listing them at Etsy.
Wow, I have had 3 nonpaying sales this week. I thought it was just me.
Is this related to the issues they were having with the checkout before Christmad
This has been going on for months.
For the amount etsy sellers pay in Paypal fees you would think Etsy could get Paypal techs to help them integrate paypal completely.
What a bunch of asshats.
Funny typo, Fantasy...
Christmad.
boy, is he ever!
"isajune says:
Our Engineers are looking into this issue. We'll post back here when we have any information to add to the discussion. "
Bullshit. She's just saying that. I bet she doesn't even know what the Engineers look like.
Wow, i wish i had three sales in a week. even if i had to send a paypal invoice. one day i was humming along well and then BAM sales, hearts and views dropped off to nil. i have always wondered if it was because i complained about resellers in the forum...i listed over 30 cases of manufactured items that were in violation of copyright infringement (like hello kitty, sponge bob, etc)
yup, I thought I had more non-payers then usual
Nuggets, you are speaking of an unrelated problem.
Lost, I don't doubt this has been happening for a while. It takes someone hardheaded and relentless, who admin is familiar with on a one-on-one basis to get attention on a bug. The admin who aren't familiar with me (the newer ones) did blow off my complaints (support sent me a link to the newbie "how to pay" web page), which is why I am getting my info on the bug from etsy via Anda.
This ought not be the case, but it is.
For what it is worth, the status I received yesterday was that they are still working with paypal but no updates
Um... they won't fix it. Why? Because they want a good excuse for an in house payment system. I wonder if they aren't actually making these "glitches" happen.....

Etsy has engineers? Who knew?
good grief - they're gonna build their own payment system?!?! The people who can't make a basic search function work? Yikes.
And even if they were the best engineers in the world, they'd be better off chasing down true paypal integration - cuz that's what (most) customers know and are comfortable with. Just look at the strife caused at 1000markets for just accepting Amazon payments.
I will never do any business there if I'm trustung my money to them
Anyone see the new thread by Morgan?
Does this mean dxo got bumped from Teams?

Just another one of those cool kids somebody met at Starbucks.
I was wondering what was going on with the unpaid invoices. Would have been nice if Etsy had sent out an email to all sellers. This is kinda a big deal!
here we are at 31 January now, and it is still a problem. ** sigh ** too bad the paypal problems mean that our monthly etsy service fee bills can't be paid... then something would happen!
