Proposed changes to the dos and don'ts

Etsy is updating the Dos and Don'ts. In case you haven't seen it, the beta is available for preview. A synopsis of what Etsy thinks is important is in the Dorque. They say it's available for a week so members can provide feedback on the proposed changes, though no thread is linked to and commenting is closed. You have to wander over to the forum to get to Stella's post with a link to a discussion thread and her comments/answers.

We here at EB are currently going over them and will likely post more about it at a later date, but feel free to vent here.

The engineers are sleeping...still

We've been watching a thread regarding some problems with searching multi-word tags. We figured that bugs happen, we'll give Etsy a chance. That is, we figured that until someone pointed out that this 'bug' was reported a month ago.

Searching for a multiword tag in your item tags, may not find it (example, "sterling silver earrings" or "sterling silver"). The workaround is searching for "word1_word2". But buyers don't search this way! And if you have "word1 word2 word3", searching for "word1_word2" doesn't find it: "sterling silver earrings" won't be found searching for "sterling silver" or "sterling_silver"

We know Etsy is busy fixing the SEO, but we've always been told that different people work on different things - so why can't they fix this troublesome search bug at the same time?

RobWhite chimed in on page 1 of the new thread that the engineers have been notified - there's been no additional word and it's now 2 days later.

Is everyone at Etsy sleeping? Someone better wake up, because their car is on the edge of the cliff - and Toonces is driving.

Let's Play a Game of Find the Admin

Funny that this forum thread appeared recently, I've spent the last few days combing Etsy for information about Admin usernames and bugging my other EB for help. Why help you ask? Because the About page, Storque About Us series, Storque authorship list, and the wiki don't contain all the information. And not a single one of those sources has the exact same information as the others. I still can't track down usernames for 7 admin listed on the about page, but they're engineers so I guess that's acceptable - they mostly use shops for test listings.

Talk about confusing. No wonder you all asked! It's like finding Waldo.

Anyway, here is a list of Etsy admin usernames, shops, associated collaborations, and relatives. From my count, 23 admin (more than one-third) have 34 shops and Admin hold a total of at least 95 IDs. Day-umn. Talk about bloating the registration figures! (Edit: Nov 3, 2009 These numbers are much higher now than when this article was originally published)
