New tool: Etsyfeeder

There's a new off-Etsy tool for Etsians, both buyers and sellers - Etsyfeeder, a way to organize your favorites!

UEN got the official scoop from the man himself, husband of Etsy seller soapdeli

Though Etsy may make it difficult to support your favorite artisans, tools like this can make it a little easier.

I don't know if it affects all etsyfeeder capabilities, but Etsy has disabled part of the stats side of this tool

Etsy is always screwing with the stats/API to mess up off-site tools. (the former etsytools constant reconfiguration for instance)

Almost like they're actively trying to prevent sellers from having the information...hmmmm

It doesn't affect all my capabilities, just the stats. You can still manage your favorites items and shops, and get RSS feeds complete with pictures, prices and Add to Cart button for any shop so you can stay up to date in your favorite newsreader.

Etsy definitely doesn't want sellers to have any stats. They always pull this shit.

Glad to hear that it doesn't totally knock out what etsyfeeder does.

You know why the don't want us to have stats, because then we can do the math (and so can investors). They are not even close to covering their $27MM investment.

From the brief moments I saw the stats yesterday:

$75MM in sales this year = $2.625MM FVF
~15MM listings this year = $3MM

Total rev = 5MM

Do the math, they are not making it the way they should be with the number of sellers they have. Why... my guess is because half the time you can't find stuff... they promote the same items every hour, so it looks like that is all there is on Etsy, and they probably have a heavy churn rate with buyers and sellers.

Just my guesses, of course.

Geesh they won't give sellers tools so when they make their own they fuck with people~ Etsy, so many ways to fail!

Just e-mailed you as well, but in regards to my point about the same stuff being on the FP... check it out:

I can't stand HeyMichelle's avatar, it just annoys me.

I just want to encourage everyone using the tools to make a donation. The tools he has given us really make our work so much easier. I made a one time donation and others make a donation each time they download a new tool. If you don't want to just make a donation to him, why not buy from his wife on etsy.

Big Tex... I'm doing both! I love her soaps (I featured her in one of my treasuries a few weeks back!) and I love to support great engineers who give their time for projects like this... in fact I'm married to one. So... will gladly help out another one who is making life better for the rest of us!

I really do appreciate your support folks. I'm glad that I can make the lives of Etsy users a bit better in some way. We'll have to see if Chad will be a man of his word and work with us third party guys/gals or not. Here's to hoping, right?

.......
and at least 2 million of that is going to pay their bloated staff. (that is my extremely conservative estimate of 60 employees x $30K. Most of the engineers probably make double or triple that)
They are never going to pay back the investors if they spend all their income on staff who do busywork like writing Storque articles all day long.

(OT plug for soapdeli- I bought 6 soaps last week, they are awesome.)
