Quotables: Sneaky & Underhanded

Fundamentally

And the root of the whole problem is that you can actually remove an item from someone's shop without paying for it.

This is the crux for a number of problems on Etsy, so if they fixed THAT, instead of trying to put bandaids on everything, maybe they'd actually eliminate a set of problems so they can move on to the next instead of always back tracking and trying to clean up messes.

Fed up
Malicious *fake* buying to bump items off the front page will continue until Etsy changes their policy of having sold listings removed once they sell.

This is not a new problem, and yet it continues because safeguards are not in place to prevent it.
(i.e., items aren't *sold* until they are PAID for -or- allow items to stay on the front page even after they are bought.)

SOLD ITEMS SHOULD STAY ON THE FRONT PAGE FOR THE DURATION.

Yes, I'm yelling.

Another brilliant Etsy plan. Not.

This has been a problem for years, sounds like it's getting worse and worse.

Why not create a sock puppet (easy) and buy a competitors stuff off the front page, gift guides, dorque picks, wherever? (easy)

You won't get caught and you don't really have to pay. (bonus)

Yeah, I needed the vacation mode that wipes out my entire store MUCH more than not letting sock puppets pull my stuff from my shop.
