Per the wonderful Revolving Dork, the Etsy engineers are "delighted" that the view tallies are fixed. He goes on to note that "We've tested this system thoroughly, but there is always a chance that an issue may arise once we have it running on the live site. If there is an issue, we'll be sure to alert you through the Storque and the Etsy News Alerts email list."
Uh huh, sure. Just like this past time right?
Response in the Forums has been tremendous. RD has spent more than an hour imitating Whack-a-mole with all of the redundant threads popping up stating the obvious.
It's even spilled over to Etc where the most important discovery has been that you can actually type "FUCK" in a thread title and not be censored.

HA, was wondering how fast the bitches would break this news, just got it in my inbox...!
You know, I stopped looking at the view tallies about two years ago because the little buggers have had issues so often that I fail to see them any longer as a tool of any kind. This is why fresh blood is important in any population of complainers ;)
Did you notice how many people responded to RD's post stating their views were at 0 or reset for the first time? Well done! *applauds*

They seemed to have "fixed" majaba as well. Ahem. :D
I'm disappointed with this 'fix'.
1) Some users are experiencing problems still rather than a fix and RD is just directing them to the 'It's fixed!' thread of praise.
2) The email did not go to all sellers...only to those subscribed to the News newsletter.
These are the same issues Etsy always has with such problems. Nothing new...they really aren't listening very well.
........I am unimpressed.
Meh.
The fixes always seem like I am being presented with a silver platter, the lid ceremoniously whipped off while being asked: "And would you like your shit hot or cold Mademoiselle?"

Wow is this world ever full of morons that CAN'T READ.
A billion bloody threads saying "The item I posted yesterday" lost all it's views. That's a billion bloody idiots that can't read a simple paragraph. Read RD's bloody message and you'll see that all the views for the last two days are gone. Is it so bloody hard to read?
Another one: My views have suddenly gone down! OMG another billion idiots that can't read ... if you had bothered reading, then you'd see that all the views previous to January 2008 were lost.
Oooh another one ... OMG my item has jumped in views!!! Umm, yeah moron, all teh views between january 2008 and two days ago were restored.
I especially get a kick out of all the morons posting new messages "OMG MY VIEWS ARE SCREWED UP AGAIN". Well shit, all they had to do was open one of the thousand other threads and read the link RD posted.

It would be nice if everyone who has been banned from the forums received a message like that after a particular post of theirs, instead of the silence and guessing games that happened to some of us. At least that is straight-forward and to the point!
I agree with sigh! I know there are many fine people on Etsy, but sadly there are many who seem to have been in a basement with no computer access who, once out of the basement, still can't read once they logged on. "OMG, where did my views go, how could this have happened, has it ever happened to anyone else, what should I do now?"

Alot of this could be stopped by a clear concise email to all sellers explaining what is happening.
It would also help if RD listened to people who are trying to explain how items with views prior to the 16th reverted to 1 or 0. Telling them to reread the first post is just showing that he isn't reading their posts.
Anyway, views are fixed we think, good job Etsy, now get to work on the dozens of other things that need fixing and/or done.

After all this time I really don't give a damn about views...I would much rather have a reasonable vacation mode...
I totally want vacation mode.
Half my views got reset, and half didn't. It's so weird. It makes my store look like it's all over the map. I'd actually rather have everything go back to 0, not just every other one.
Those view counters will never be right. I've stopped stressing over them.
