Etsy a little slow today?

As pointed out in this forum thread, Etsy page loading is getting hung up on the dopple analytics script.

And guess what Dopple is! Well, it's a company owned by Rokali that's developing analytics software (even though he's not an IT guy of any form). Hmm...starting from scratch when there's already Google Analytics, but they had trouble integrating that too. Might as well screw up the whole kit and kaboodle instead of just the kit.

So it looks like Etsy is trying to fix the Google integration issue by just making their own software, which they can't seem to integrate either, or maybe it's just a crap beta test. Either way, you're their guinea pigs! Here's a lettuce leaf to nibble on.

This is the only haywire development because, according to HeyMichele's post in this thread:
http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=6412597
Etsy has no way to test its own test of Relevancy Thursdays.

If Etsy can't get results from its own experiments, then how can they justify changes they make to the site? Or even ask sellers to comment (not that they're actually reading them) on a test with with no reportable benefits?

Aren't ecommerce sites that rake in $26 million a month supposed to get better...........not worse?

Etsy always likes to invent the wheel over and over again. So sad.

Funny, where do you get that Etsy can't get results from their own testing? I just took Michelle's post like her 'we're taking notes' kind of thing.

What I don't understand is how they get any useful information from the forums, most of the opinions are either, 'my stuff came up in my search so I love it', or 'I can't find my stuff so I hate it'.

No one knows how anyone is searching and it's fairly clear that a large number of people don't know how to use a search properly, or how to tag for relevance, including Etsy. They proved that by not only including recency in a relevancy search, but by also increasing it's weight after all the crying the renewers did.

I am kicking myself for even thinking that Etsy was actually going to do something the right way with this search. I let myself hope that for once Etsy might actually be heading in the right direction in making this a buyer friendly site.

Once again the comment 'hope breaks your heart on Etsy' rings in my ears.

I'm sure whatever analytic software they are developing is for Etsy only and not for the sellers. I guarantee they have every stat imaginable, not just from google.

Bullshit to what HeyMichelle said about them having no way to test the relevancy thursday. There is no way that is true.

I'm on an Etsy sabbatical and I've never been happier.

My stuff is irrelevant; who cares?

If, by some miracle, I sell something, I'll send it right out. With a free gift, even.

And I hate, hate, hate having to sign in every day.
