Zibbet is a really nice site and they respond to their sellers quickly. They've done a bunch of upgrades and the new shop features are nice, you can choose picture size, customize your shop, etc. It's very easy to use and so far no resellers, haha. My only complaint is that the front page is a little blah, but at least everyone's new listings show up there. The only thing it needs is buyers, but my shop stats do show that people are somehow finding me and the item views have been higher than you would expect. I recommend this site to anyone looking for an alternative to etsy, you've got a much better chance at being seen on zibbet. Etsy is just getting too overrun with sellers these days, and it seems that all they care about is getting more sellers to sign up and spend all their money in listing fees and showcase fees.
Oh, and so far, the showcase thing on zibbet is random, no fees for that yet, it just seems to pick items from shops, I've been in there lots of times already.

Try out Zibbet, it's still small enough that you might be able to actually make some holiday sales that you'll never make on Etsy because they're too cool to admit there's a holiday season in retail.

Just try them for their listing template - it's a seller's dream.

But, as soon as the new handmade sites start looking and acting like Etsy, run for the hills before they too do more damage to the original value of handmade.

I opened a basic shop today. I'm thinking 25 items will be enough to test the waters. And I didn't want to get all thrilled with the Premium shop features. If I find I really need those extra features, I'll just upgrade.
It seems like a peaceful place, with virtually no drama. I'd love to have a reason to upgrade on Zibbet and leave the rest.

i have noticed something that maybe you all have too, in a matter of 5 years that Etsy has launched it's side , i have not seen not even one African- American Oriental or Hispanic worker that works at Esty staff,, Why is that ? I completely understand of Being a Brooklyn yappie i guess you have to hang out with your own kind.

I'm not sure that the entire Etsy staff are total white breads, but it is odd that there are no staff avatars (that I recall seeing) that are obviously not. I dunno, but I think the staff avatars were more diverse once upon a time.

It's hard to tell now because the staff and management seem to be keeping an extremely low profile, like they are hiding or something.

Is Halloween an international holiday?

Anglo-Saxon is about it, I think.

Is Halloween an international holiday?
-------------------------------
It is to the extent that a lot of cultures copy American popular culture out of context. Many American WASPS don't know that Halloween means All Saints Eve -- the night before the Roman Catholic Holy Day, The Feast of All Saints, and start going off on satan and banning Halloween. Too funny.

What I'm wondering about is since Etsy started promoting Halloween on the FP around August 1 (like 90 days before Oct. 31), shouldn't we be seeing Hanukkah (sp?) gifts and stuff now, and Christmas, Yule, Solstice, Kwanzaa related items next week?

Or is it only Halloween that gets maximum holiday exposure on Etsy? I guess because of all the gothic and spooky pop culture tie-ins.

Oh, yes. Halloween is so counter-culture because it's about DEATH! Ah, the angst of youth. That's why they love those skulls on everything-- it's so DEEP!

I always saw it as Samhain, a pagan festival.
it spans many cultures in different forms, i guess.

:)

Ne'er heard of Zibbet before.
That said, im all off marketplaces right now. Have a feeling theyre all, essentially the same. (fees, odd rules, restrictions, unhealthy competition and copying/copyright theft, bleh!)

I'm with foxaz. As an Australian living in Japan, I was dismayed to see such a huge Halloween gift guide on Etsy *6 weeks* before the event. International sellers have been asking for a broader range of gift guides and other features for so long. I'm tired of waiting.

I am slowly moving over to Zibbet. I pretty much drive all my own traffic to my Etsy shop via Twitter, Blogger and Facebook, so now I am redirecting it. Zibbet is super small, but a modest monthly listing fee makes the bookkeeping easier for me and the listing template is SO easy. I like Etsy, but it's been getting strange recently. I want to be on a less crowded venue. Once Zibbet brings in combined shipping options, I'll bring my supplies over too.

Hiya

Ive been checking in every now and then, although Im a new seller on Etsy Im not very impressed with the service there and am thinking about trying out some other sites. I would really like to know which site has the biggest sales after Etsy. Does anyone know how I can get that info?
