No, its unrelated to EB. It all went down in the forums.
There's a long history of people being muted for not-so-established reasons...there's even Free the Etsy 5 merchandise!
For asking about their shop being shutdown without notice, for speaking out against Etsy on external sites, for not following rules (which may or may not have been clear, different in different cases), for being the recipient of abuse and complaining about it...the list goes on

I was muted because I had the nerve to disagree with one of the admin's favorite posting pets about a touchy political subject.
I do so very politely and life went on but then one of the favorite posting pet's little friends decided to follow me from thread to thread, posting nasty comments about my store, my politics, my presumed appearance, my upbringing, etc.
I asked her to please stop. She didn't. I asked her again. She didn't. So I reported some of her nastiest posts.
Then, surprise surprise, I was convoed by MaryMary and muted by RW.
The bitch who harassed me is still posting freely. I know it's because she is a favorite of a favorite. It wasn't a business decision. She hasn't sold anything in the last six months. I've sold plenty.
Go figure.

Besides, her everyday life is punishment enough.
