  2. Hilarious!

What is there left to do but make fun of Etsy's fail?

Maybe someone somewhere will give a crap, but until then carry on you treasury makers!

  3. I don't know who I want to see eat them first; Disney or Apple!

    Good gods...

So, has anyone ratted them out yet? Afterall, "we" now have quite a few choices of potentially interested parties, with some clout, post dildo debacle.

    It might be fun.

  7. Do like Etsy, wait 'til all those Admins in white coats get their panties in a bunch, and wait 2 minutes for dozens of bitchy Admin slaps in the forums. They are mad! and they're gonna take it out on sellers! (=watch out non-fave decal shops, you are dust!)

When Etsy lowers the bar to the lowest common demoninator, you have to strike back with the same poor taste.

    They taught us so well!

Now, can we throw together a Treasury that has images of privacy violations so we can drop another line to the FTC?!? (Google finally got fined for the same opt in violation--we can push for greater scrutiny of Etsy while privacy issues are still a hot topic.

Can't find a contact link on the Disney site to just send them the link to the Treasury, but if you go here -

    http://corporate.disney.go.com/corporate/terms.html

    - and scroll down to #16 there's an email address, although I think it's more for people who think that Disney is mis-using THEIR copyrighted material. It's an email, though. Heh heh.

Also can't find info for Apple - anyone else have any luck?

    This could be fun. >:-)

Ah, missed the link in the comments section of the Treasury:

    tips@disneyantipiracy.com

    Heehee!

  11. The Apple logo, is not being missused. That IS the macbook lighted apple logo in the lid case, the decal just fits around it. It's not illegal to use/take a picture of a laptop with the logo on it.

The decal ON the laptop however...

  13. Classy.

I also enjoyed the other treasuries posted on Regretsy this week, including the ones of shipping methods for sale as items:

    http://www.regretsy.com/2011/03/30/new-treasury-ship-shape/

Unfortunately, I don't think it will get through to Etsy that improving the seller tools will fix these kinds of problems.

  14. Oh but surely they have all been allowed by Disney to use their images, right? I mean it's not like Etsy can chase after copyright infringement or anything...

  15. Couldn't resist making a snarky comment on that treasury. Suppose I'll pay for it by being muted or having my shop closed down.

Oh well, WTF? Certainly I don't give a damn anymore.

Etsy is nothing more than a mild source of amusement these days as it is a major FAIL as a viable selling option. Heh, unless you are a reseller or copyright thief that is.

Oh, and don't forget the latest insult from the great RK to all his sellers who put him on the map: Etsy is just a big online flea market.

Etsy and RK, YOU SUCK!!! And, you cannot even do that well.

  16. And this Toy Story one is such fun too:

Did you see this? Kalin interviews and says Etsy is a fleamarket, and I love how they end with "lots of users are angry about changes, however, it's clear none of them will ever leave or do anything." (approximately)

    Classy.

  18. The RK Inc. article is just further proof that it's an incestious world of tech-dom and they just pet each other's ponytails without spending too much effort either writing or investigating their subjects.

RK knows the real deal which is 1) Etsy makes most of its money from listings and preying on the insecurities of a lot of wannabes and 2) Etsy can & does promote less than 1% of the sellers they like, job done, go home.

It takes both very little effort to scam tons of money and it takes even less effort to pay 200 people to promote about 200 sellers (if it's actually that many, but I doubt it) a year that they like.

Smells like a scam-a-thon to me.

Looking into the inventory of these shops(the ones that haven't closed and opened 5 minutes later under another name), you also find "original art" of the Simpsons, Mario Bros., Harry Potter, Mickey Mouse, Iron Man and of course, Hello Kitty and lots more. They don't even change the names of the characters. Bleh.

  20. "lots of users are angry about changes, however, it's clear none of them will ever leave or do anything."

but in a shop search under a common name: say "John" often shows 7 out of 10 shops contain no items... that's gotta be frustrating for buyers.
(some of us are on permanent "vacation" to keep SOME control over our personal information.)

Of course ETSY's answer to embarrassing treasuries will be either to mute the people who made the treasury OR shut down the treasuries all together... so that the members have (as usual) no control or even the illusion of control of what will appear on the front page.
